Top Ten

Here at The Packer we are working on the Top Ten stories of the year 2007 for presentation in wrap-up style for a coming issue. The top stories have already been ranked by the editorial team, but I'm curious how Fresh Talk readers would place these stories. Give me your own ranking, and if anyone matches The Packer's Top Ten, well, I'll find a an old Packer coffee mug to send to you. In alpha order:

AVOCADO WOES
CALIFORNIA FREEZE
CHANGING CONSUMER TRENDS:
DEVALUED DOLLAR
FARM BILL'S INCLUSION OF SPECIALTY CROPS
FOOD SAFETY CONCERNS CONTINUE -
IMMIGRATION REFORM A NO-GO -
SALAD BOWL UPHEAVAL
TESCO LANDS IN AMERICA
WHOLE FOODS/WILD OATS SAGA

  1. Having had to rank the year's top stories numerous times in my previous life as a newspaper editor, I'll give it a whirl. Some are a toss-up, but from where I sit, I'd rank them this way:

    Food safety concerns continue
    Immigration reform a no-go
    Changing consumer trends
Farm bill’s inclusion of specialty crops
    Devalued dollar
    Salad bowl upheaval
    California freeze
    Tesco lands in America
    Whole foods/ wild oats saga
    Avocado woes

  2. Lisa,

Nice try but a little out of order. Your top five has three of our top five.
