Lou Dobbs and the truth
The New York Times on May 30 ran an account of Lou Dobbs badly missing the truth of an issue relating to illegal immigration. It pointed out that Lou doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good argument against illegal immigration.
From the story:
Mr. Dobbs argues that the middle class has many enemies: corporate lobbyists, greedy executives, wimpy journalists, corrupt politicians. But none play a bigger role than illegal immigrants. As he sees it, they are stealing our jobs, depressing our wages and even endangering our lives.
TK: Dobbs has single-handedly stoked the passion of those who would like to derail immigration reform. His citing of wildy inflated statistics relating to leprosy - and the less than forthcoming admission of error - should lend caution to viewers with an affinity to his folksy preaching about immigration.
