Amazing Christmas deals on Mega Monday & Super Tuesday

A massive pre-Christmas supermarket price war will break out with the biggest wave of cuts for years on a day dubbed Super Tuesday.

Amazing deals will be offered on everything from mince pies to chocolates from Tuesday, December 15, with shoppers in line to save up to £1billion.

It will even top tomorrow's Mega Monday, when online shoppers are expected to spend £420million to make sure goods are delivered by Christmas.

At the height of last Christmas's price war, leading super-markets had a total of 15,155 special offers. But even by last week the number had soared to 18,817 - an increase of 34 per cent on last year.

And it is set to rise even higher with up to 20,000 special offers at major supermarkets by Super Tuesday. So far Tesco has slashed prices by £250m, the Co-op, which includes Somerfield, by £200m and Asda by £150m.

Many of the best bargains are on staple seasonal products bought by millions.

They include half-price deals on items ranging from Christmas puddings and joints of beef to Stilton cheese and port. Jonny Steel, of mySupermarket.co.uk, which tracks prices at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and online retailer Ocado, said: "Our analysis shows that the most deals are available in mid-December so advance planning could pay off for food shoppers this Christmas.

"Many families leave their entire food shop until the last minute, when they would save more by stocking up on the promoted products earlier in the month."

Supermarkets say record numbers are booking home deliveries online to avoid the lastminute rush. Asda is expecting to make 500,000 deliveries between now and Christmas, an increase of 30 per cent on last year.
