Jeff Denham: probable target of federal corruption
investigation, wrong choice for Valley voters

FRESNO, Calif. -- Jun. 7, 2010 -- Congressional candidate and alleged compulsive violator of federal law-- Jeff Denham-- is clearly the wrong choice for California's 19th District.  Denham's violations include a laundry list of misdeeds.  Here is a selection of Mr. Denham's "greatest hits."

1) Jeff Denham: Accepts illegal contributions, FEC finally steps in

FACT:
FEC calls-out Denham
In a six-page, May 11 letter, the FEC noted that Denham's campaign appeared to have accepted several types of illegal contributions. The FEC noted money coming in from a corporation, as well as from individuals who were giving beyond their permitted limits.  – The Fresno Bee, May 28, 2010

FACT:
Jeff Denham pushed the boundary of federal law—violated it, and was threatened by the Federal Election Commission with investigation:
Failure to fix the problems by June 15 could result in a formal audit or investigation, the regulators warned. – The Fresno Bee, May 28, 2010

FACT:
Congressional District 19 candidates should not have the cloud of ANY immediate federal investigation over their heads.

2) Jeff Denham – Money ties to the Chukchansi tribe?  If so, why?

…Chukchansi is supporting Denham because he has pledged to oppose a $250 million casino proposed by the North Fork Rancheria at a 305-acre site off Highway 99, four miles north of Madera. The casino would likely be competition for Chukchansi.
…Denham, as a congressman, would assist Chukchansi in putting into trust additional Madera County land the tribe own… – The Fresno Bee, May 28, 2010

If coordination is proven— that's another possible federal investigation in queue for Jeff Denham.

3) Jeff Denham: Private Aviator or Federal Law Violator?

FACT:
Charter operator on the legality of politicians in federal Congressional elections using private jets:
"Federal FEC law and House ethics rules make it clear that we can only use commercially chartered air service." The Fresno Bee, May 5, 2010

FACT:
Jeff Denham rode on a non-commercially chartered private jet during his federal Congressional campaign:
Jeff Denham… "likely violated federal election law when… (he) …traveled in late March on a corporate aircraft owned by a prominent west-side farming company." The Fresno Bee, May 5, 2010

FACT:
Jeff Denham therefore allegedly broke law: reason for possible federal investigation
When briefed on the details of the flight, two federal election law experts said Denham… apparently violated the law. It has been on the books since September 2007, when Bush signed the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act. Among other things, the act made it illegal for House candidates to fly on corporate jets.
The Fresno Bee, May 5, 2010

It's time the people of the 19th Congressional District voted for someone that will not have to deal with possible immediate federal investigations.  Congressmen need to be effective for the people of their district.  An immediate investigation of any possible newly elected Congressman weakens the ability for a legislator to get things done for our district—like secure water for farmers or help grow our local economy.

LET'S DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE VALLEY.
