Produce Traceability Initiative
Amy Philpott of United says not to expect any quick news out of today's meeting in Atlanta with the first gathering of the Produce Traceability Initiative steering committee. A joint statement about the meeting will be released at some point after the meeting concludes - no timeline given. It would have been more efficient to have the trade press represented, but perhaps future meetings will be open to the media.
Still no word from the USDA on when the once-postponed meeting of the fruit and vegetable industry advisory committee will take place.
