Staying at the cutting edge of fresh produce convenience

Berlin, 23 November 2010 – The Business Forum at FRESHCONEX 2011 (9-11 February) focuses on 11 February on the latest trends and innovations in the fresh produce convenience sector. Highly perishable fresh produce demands ongoing technical innovations for processing, packaging, refrigeration and logistics. The new challenges ahead and the advanced solutions needed to master them will be discussed by experts in their Business Forum presentations.

The presentation "Understanding today's global produce safety landscape" (14.00-14.30) focuses on increasing the awareness of this important topic. Food safety is essential in today's food business. This is especially true in the fresh convenience sector where perishable products need to be handled with utmost care from the field to the supermarket shelf. Food safety expert Dave Gombas from the United Fresh Produce Association (USA) will talk about the industry's biggest challenges and outline some practical solutions.

Other Business Forum topics on Friday include "Next steps for packaging technology in fresh produce convenience" (10.00 –10.30), "Securing improvements in the logistics chain for fresh produce convenience" (11.00-11.30) and "Distribution chain and traceability solutions for the fresh-cut convenience sector" (13.00-13.30).

In addition to the wide variety of products and services presented at Europe's unique international trade fair for fresh produce convenience, the Business Forum (Hall 7.2a) presents the latest information and current trends in this growth market in a series of compact, half-hour presentations by high-calibre industry experts. Topics covered on the first and second day of the trade fair include "Developing new market opportunities for food service" (9 February) and "New opportunities in marketing for fresh produce convenience" (10 February).

The Business Forum is organised by Fresh Convenience Magazine (GB) and United Fresh Produce Association (USA). Up-to-date information on the FRESHCONEX 2011 Business Forum programme and speakers will be available online from end of November at www.freshconex.com / Events.
