ABC Research Laboratories renews offer of travel funds for scientists to attend 4th annual CPS Produce Research Symposium in Rochester, NY

Davis, CA, April 3, 2013 - ABC Research Laboratories is proud to offer three research travel awards to attend the upcoming CPS Produce Research Symposium on June 25-26, 2013, in Rochester, NY. This grant is available to all researchers working to improve produce safety. "We are thrilled to once again partner with CPS, opening the door for researchers to participate in this fantastic educational event. We were very impressed with the quality of research offered in last year's submissions, and we can't wait to see what this year has in store," declared Gillian Folkes Dagan, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, ABC Research Laboratories. Ian Bessell, Business Development Director, ABC Research Laboratories, followed with a similar sentiment, "ABC Research Laboratories is passionately dedicated to continuing research in the area of produce safety. The research today will shape the produce world tomorrow, and it is humbling to assist in the incubation of new concepts and methodologies." The Center for Produce Safety was created to bring members of the produce food safety community together to identify and fill knowledge gaps. ABC Research Laboratories is an example of one of the many types of companies working to deliver safe produce to consumers. "We were honored to hear that ABC Research wanted to support attendance at the CPS symposium once again," stated Bonnie Fernandez-Fenaroli, Executive Director for the Center for Produce Safety. "The symposium offers an opportunity for the produce industry, academia, regulatory staff and others interested in the science of produce food safety to hear the newest CPS research findings." Travel Grant - Program Specifics: For program details please check the ABC Research Laboratories website or the Center for Produce Safety website. Three applicants will be selected and each will receive a $500 travel grant for costs associated with attending the CPS event, as well as complimentary registration. Applications must be submitted by midnight on 05/01/2013. Travel grant recipients will be announced on 05/15/2013. Researchers selected to receive the travel awards will be notified by phone and email prior to the announcement. Selection will be based on the following criteria: • Relevance of the applicant's research to practical concerns in produce safety • Applicant's ability to effectively communicate research findings • Applicant's ability to conduct relevant and robust research
